UMMO-Ciencias

A site devoted to the rational study of the UMMO affair

The UMMO-Ciencias site

In January 1966 some strange letters began to arrive in Spain. Their senders claimed to be the members, on Earth, of an exploratory mission from the planet they called UMMO, 14.4 light-years from Earth.

These letters described, in some detail, the history and culture of the inhabitants of that planet UMMO. They also described the planet itself and its star system.

The philosophical, religious, scientific, technical, political-economic and other conceptions contained in these mailings were extraordinary for their originality and coherence.

After a first wave of letters in 1966 and 1967, addressed mainly, though not exclusively, to Mr Fernando Sesma, the letters became more spaced out in time and their recipients more diverse. In some years almost no letters were received, but they hardly ever stopped altogether, and in the second half of the 1980s a second wave of letters arrived, with even denser and deeper content.

Letters claiming the same origin, the beings of UMMO, have continued to arrive since then, both in Spain and in France.

On this site you will find the transcriptions of all the known letters, as well as facsimile copies of those originals we have been able to access. English translations are being added progressively; where one is not yet available, the letter links to the Spanish original.

Come in, read the texts, and judge for yourselves.

Acknowledgements

This site wishes to express its warmth and sense of indebtedness towards those pioneers: Fernando Sesma (+), Dionisio Garrido (+), Alicia Araujo (+), Enrique Villagrasa (+), Hiltrud Nordlin, Antonio Ribera (+), Juan Domínguez (+), Luis Jiménez Marhuenda (+), Alberto Borrás, Joaquín Martínez (+), Regina Sendras (+), Ignacio Darnaude (+), Francisco Mejorada (+), Franco Muela (+) and so many others who devoted so many passionate hours to reading and discussing these documents.

There are three names to which we feel particularly grateful: Rafael Farriols (+), who lived through the UMMO affair at closer quarters than anyone and who managed to gather almost all the letters received; Jorge Barrenechea (+), who likewise lived the affair in depth and thanks to whom we have obtained a large number of original letters; and Doctor Juan Aguirre, who has devoted hours and hours of tireless and generous work to compiling these mysterious and fascinating texts and making them available to everyone, and without whom this site would not be possible.

To all of them, our remembrance and our gratitude.
