A site devoted to the rational study of the UMMO affair

On 10 July 2022 the account @Rule_11O makes its second appearance and sends this text, signed "K.", with the brief comment in English, "A gift".

A temperament is the result of an individual, separate existence. But that which knows no separation cannot be translated in terms of temperaments, nor approached through a particular temperament. If we want to examine the whole from the point of view of one of its parts, we do not succeed, because it naturally presents itself to us in the terms of that part, which we call temperament. Through a particular temperament we cannot see what lies beyond all temperaments, just as through a frame we cannot see what lies beyond all frames.

But let us not confuse individual temperament with individual uniqueness: temperaments depend on the conditions in which one finds oneself, that is, on contingencies, on the characteristics of race, on heredity, etc... whereas individual uniqueness is continuous through birth and death; it is the only guide of the being throughout its separate individual existence until this reaches its fulfilment. To understand the meaning of individuality one must understand the purpose of individual existence. Life is creation. It includes the creator and the created. Nature contains life, that is, everything that is manifested contains life. When this life in Nature develops until it becomes a single individual focus, Nature has fulfilled its purpose. The whole destiny and function of Nature is to create the self-conscious individual, conscious of duality, who knows that he constitutes in himself a separate entity. Thus life in Nature, through its development, becomes self-conscious in the man who has awakened, who has concentrated himself in himself. The individual is a separate being, who is conscious of himself, who knows himself to be different from others, in whom lies the distinction between himself and others. But individuality is an imperfection; it is not an end in itself.

Evolution seen as the extension of an individuality through time is an illusion. What is necessarily imperfect (individuality) remains imperfect, even when it is extended and enlarged. Individuality is intensified by the conflicts of ignorance and by the very limitations of thought and emotion: the individual thus becomes more precise, and consciously isolates himself. It is useless to raise to the nth power this isolated consciousness of the self, which will always remain isolated because it has its roots in the sense of individual separation. Thus the enlargement of this "I am", which is separation, cannot lead to the universal. The evolution of the "I am" is only the expansion of this sense of separation, in time and in space. The individual, imprisoned in his limitation, isolated by his notion of "I and the others", must free himself, and find his culmination in his liberation. Liberation is the freedom of consciousness; it is not the enlargement of the "I am", but results from the wearing away of the sense of separation. The ultimate aim of individual existence is to realize the pure state of being, in which there are no separations, but which is the realization of the whole. The fulfilment of man's destiny is to be the whole. It is not a matter of wanting to go and lose oneself in the Absolute, but of becoming oneself the totality, after continuous conflicts, continuous refinements. Individual existence is but a fragment of the totality, and it is because it feels this that it strives to fulfil itself, to find its fullness in the totality. Therefore effort and self-consciousness are inseparable, and if this effort against limitation were to cease, it would result in the loss of self-consciousness and of individuality. When individuality has fulfilled its purpose, when it has destroyed by constant effort the walls of its separateness, when it has reached the sense of being without effort, then individual existence too has been fulfilled.

It is necessary, first of all, to know what this individual life tends towards, this existence in which the beginning and the end lie. It is necessary to understand the reason for existence, without which experience, creation and uniqueness have no meaning. If the individual, in whom there exists the consciousness of his isolation, of what is subjective in relation to what is objective, if the individual does not understand his reason for being, he becomes only a slave of experience and of the creation of forms. But if he understands his reason for being, he grows stronger with each experience, each emotion, each thought, until he can wear away the wall of his separation.

For the self-conscious individual there exists the subject-object antinomy, so that he gives shape to some unattainable Entity which he implores to help him, to which he gives his love, his worship, his whole being. But the purpose of existence is for the individual to realize the totality in himself -without object or subject-, that is, pure life. Thus it is in the subjectivity of the individual that the object really exists. In the individual lie both the beginning and the end. In him lies the totality of all experiences, of all thoughts, of all emotions. In him lie all potentialities, and his task is to realize his objectivity in the subjective.
