What is Thought?

 

Oh, children of the Whale: you will not be able to understand the very essence of this mental function without fitting it into the whole of the Cosmos, for only a supralogical mind is capable of grasping that whole and that unity grafted into it.

 

You men - atomize concepts, and in wanting to understand the whole or the totality you analyse the parts separately, thus disintegrating absolute truth. In that way you will never reach it, for the study of the Universe is only possible by embracing it in its ten real dimensions and simultaneously confronting it with its infinite noumenal or possible dimensions, which are only reflected, like the moon in a pond, in the (∞ -1) cosmos that coexist with the one in which you are framed.

 

It is therefore not possible with your two-dimensional logic to integrate absolute truth.

Only through symbols which to narrow and ignorant minds will seem arbitrary, ridiculous and absurd will you be able to rise one step in the distant access to this reality.

 

But is it possible to grasp a pale image of the essence of the Cosmic process, induced with the aid of WORDS – NOT SYMBOLS - accessible to the pigs who reduce human communication solely to the transmission of simple words in their poor mother-father tongue?

 

Yes; it is possible, but its statement is and will be as pale as a maiden who fades into the thick mists of a starless night.

 

I am going to reveal this image to you, purer in content than that expressed by your cosmologist men, your physicists, your psychologists and your eminent sociologists and mathematicians.

The Cosmos is: A PROCESS that is carried out upon itself: I will make it clear to you with a simile.

 

An oil lamp is not the same thing as the chain of events expressed by a servant who goes down with it in his hand into a cellar in search of a cask of fine wine.

 

A bat resting suspended from a beam will wake up startled; its poor half-blind eyes will only be aware of the fleeting luminous flash of the lamp.

 

For it: the WHOLE is that impact of light, and at most, if it possessed a brain, it would guess that behind the flame there might exist a wick soaked in oil.

 

But the process of a slave going down into a cave in search of drink will never be accessible to it.

 

What is the process of the Cosmos?, - (You will say)

 

The question is badly formulated, and it is precisely this that perverts your false truth.

 

It is not that there exists a cosmos that carries out a process, as a hammer would carry out the process of driving in a stake.

 

The Cosmos is that very process. It is a driving in of the stake without a hammer. It is your minds that fabulate when they postulate the existence of that hypothetical and phantasmagorical hammer.

 

Thus, when you imagine a Cosmos made up of galaxies - (Hammer) oriented towards a determined but unknown end - (process), you prostitute the genuine meaning of the truth, painfully confusing the object with its own dynamics.

 

But, What is this PROCESS = COSMOS? I will define it for you thus:

 

Cosmos is: (A PROCESS) = A seeking of itself by entities that ARE NOT but which, on identifying with other entities that do not exist either, acquire a symbolic meaning, which reaches, on stratified planes, the Consciousness of some living beings who also exist through the chance identification of antagonistic entities.

 

Observe, oh pig brothers of Manzano, that such a definition seems a strange senseless tongue-twister uttered by an aberrant mind.

 

That is the consequence of trying to force the statement of the truth using a strange, non-symbolic vocabulary. But we will illustrate the definition with similes and illustrative examples.

 

All of you possess a formed concept of the nature of a Galaxy, as a statistical distribution of stars which can be classified sequentially in a range extending from the very dense red dwarfs with low surface temperature to the white dwarfs of low density and high temperature, passing through the red giants, and all this mixed with clouds of gas and cosmic dust forming a spiral of diffuse arms which move in an immense medium called the gravitational-electrostatic-magnetic field. And to the whole, considered as a geometrical entity for the purposes of a mathematical-spatial conception, you give the name of Universe or Cosmos.

 

It does not matter that you replace the mathematical-spatial model by another physical model of Field and statistical distribution within this framework. Listen now to this axiom which is going to fill you with astonishment, with perplexity, and which in certain Cartesian minds will unleash a process of lively protest.

 

THE BELLY OF A FROG HAS A NAVEL WHICH CAN BE COVERED WITH A LACE SOCK IF ISABEL NIDO SO WISHES.

 

This axiom: Is it a simple joke in worse or better taste? Has it anything to do with the disquisition we were developing?

 

Let us identify a galaxy: Not just any one, but the one which I know is identified among the series known to terrestrial astronomers. NGC 5236 (Messier 83). You can identify it at a right ascension of 13 hours 34'3 minutes and a declination of -29 degrees 37 minutes, with an apparent magnitude of 8'06. It presents itself to you with its galactic plane oriented with respect to a line of sight from the Earth at a minimum angle of 73º 12' 16", so that it is possible to observe its nucleus and its spiral arms submerged in an immense cloud of dust.

 

Let us now move to a city in Mongolia called Choibalsan. Near the railway station there is today a pond, now dry, which in the year 1938 contained almost stagnant water.

 

On 7 October 1938 at 17 hours 20 minutes (Moscow local time) a little frog's egg broke and a tadpole was born, which we shall identify by the number in binary code 100101110011.

 

Let us now see another, third event: Isabel Nido is a lady known to you. When she was a very little girl, her sister helped her one morning to put on a lace sock. At that instant she was thinking of a swallow she had seen alight on the balcony of a nearby house. But if that was her conscious thought, her subconscious was carrying out another more complex mental process. She was trying to ask herself why the bellies of frogs do not have a navel like those of people.

 

One last event remains to be indicated. Isabel del Nido has an ancestor called Juan. He: on the occasion of taking a walk one night in March (17 March) received in his brain a high dose of cosmic radiation coming from NGC 5236, which caused a mutation in one of the genes determining what was to be Isabel Nido's umbilical cord.

 

What relation exists between these so disparate facts?

Before All things were, Nothing was, but the following NON - CONCEPTS existed:

 

The NON-GALAXY NGC 5236: was; but never could a hypothetical existing terrestrial have perceived it.

 

THE NON-FROG: Was

 

The lace NON-SOCK: WAS.

 

The illusory, purely mental image. NAVEL in the BELLY of an unidentified FROG: WAS.

 

The NON-ISABEL NIDO was.

 

The NON-ANCESTOR DON JUAN was.

 

Such NON-EXISTENT - YES existent entities (Observe the apparent contradiction through using bipolar logic)

 

Met at a crossroads outside space and time (Observe that the episodes related correspond to various levels on a time scale) and fused with one another.

 

Entities so strangely different from one another as GALAXY – NAVEL – FROG - ISABEL NIDO - DON JUAN - POND - LACE - SOCK, Formed a single nucleus which we call NOUMICON (That is: COSMIC NOUMENON is at the same time the NOUMENON (The part is at the same time the Whole)

 

Associating in an undifferentiated whole. At that instant (We are not referring to instants = Temporal interval)

 

There did not exist GALAXY - NAVEL – SOCK - ISABEL etc., but only a NOUMICON.

 

But on fusing: The NON - GALAXY became GALAXY and the NON FROG became FROG, or to put it another way. Such entities could become capable of being differentiated components of an angular nature which, concatenated, form themselves into Cosmos (angular atoms which before integration into a NOUMEN were not accessible and now are)

 

But each great bundle of waves (Galaxy, Sock, FROG, NAVEL - FROG relation) is synchronized with the other bundles within the same NOUMICON.

 

Thus Isabel Nido, as a space-time entity, is synchronized with that Galaxy Messier 83, and when she dies she will remain synchronized with it in her component atoms, and at the same time the Frog 100101110011, which no longer lives, remains linked to her, and that thought about the navel, materialized in brain waves, is synchronized with the galaxy, with Isabel and with the sock, now vanished (as a curious piece of information I will tell you that a Nitrogen atom from that sock is today in the small intestine of the well-known painter Picaso).

 

All this NOUMICON, or synchronous set of waves, can be symbolized by this sign

and the sign or symbol in itself possesses the properties of the entities that make it up.

 

Only one condition exists for different NON - ENTITIES to be integrated into a NOUMICON

 

That they be antagonistic.

 

Now you will better understand the definition of COSMOS (READ IT AGAIN), to which we will add two corollaries.

 

COSMOS is the SUM of NOUMICONS

 

A single NOUMICON is the COSMOS to the exclusion of the others.
